Lighting Glossary
Term:
Indirect Lighting
Illumination by reflected or diffused light. Bulbs are shaded from the face of the viewer; light output above eye level protects against glare. Indirect lighting is often used in combination with direct lighting. Entirely indirect lighting could lead to a diffuse spatial effect. To achieve the same illumination intensity, indirect lighting consumes more energy than direct lighting.
