Pre-Heating
Pre-heating of the electrodes of a compact fluorescent lamp serves reduce the aging effect of the electrodes due to starting. The lamp is ignited only after the electrodes have been brought close to operating temperature and only then light is generated. The main effect of this measure is to considerably prolong lamp life.
